1/7/2008  Reception opens Scott Taylor Photo Exhibit

Twice a year noted photographer Scott Taylor of Beaufort, NC conducts Photo Expeditions to Cape Lookout.  Located on South Core Banks, the Cape Lookout National Seashore, which includes Shackleford Banks, provides an unending source of subject matter for both the novice and the more experienced photographer. On Saturday, January 19, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. the Opening Reception for Taylor’s exhibit “Images from the North Carolina Maritime Museum’s Cape Lookout Photo Expeditions” will be held at the N.C. Maritime Museum.  Tickets for the reception are available at the Museum Store for $5 for members of the Friends and $10 for non-members.

Proceeds from the sale of these 35 photographs on exhibit will benefit the museum and the Cape Lookout Studies Program. Friends of the Museum sponsorship help to support many of the museum’s educational programs including the Cape Lookout Photo Expeditions. Under the direction of coordinator, Keith Rittmaster, the Cape Lookout Studies Program offers many educational opportunities for students and families at the field station at the Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Scott Taylor’s images of the people and places of coastal North Carolina can be seen in regional and national magazines, publications and galleries including “Coast Watch,” “North Carolina Boating Lifestyle,” “Our State,” and “Wildlife in North Carolina” magazines. Along with his editorial pursuits Taylor has authored and coauthored a number of books including a coffee table book “Coastal Waters – Images of North Carolina” now in its second printing, “Song of an Unsung Place” with Bill Mansfield and “The Wild Horses of Shackleford Banks” with Carmine Prioli.  He currently operates Scott Taylor Photography, Inc. in Beaufort, NC.

We invite you to join us for the Opening Reception of this exceptional photographic visit to Cape Lookout.
